NCPMI

The National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI) supports the implementation of the Pyramid Model, a framework designed to promote social-emotional development and address challenging behavior in young children through evidence-based practices. NCPMI provides resources, training, and technical assistance to early childhood programs, educators, and families to foster inclusive, nurturing learning environments for all children, especially those with disabilities or behavioral challenges.

ECEAP

The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is Washington State’s free preschool program that prepares eligible three- and four-year-old children for kindergarten by providing early learning, family support, and health and nutrition services. ECEAP focuses on equity and whole-child development, supporting children from low-income families or those with additional needs to ensure they thrive in school and beyond.

LIFRC

The Lopez Island Family Resource Center (LIFRC) is a nonprofit organization that provides essential support services, education, and community programs to individuals and families on Lopez Island. LIFRC offers financial assistance, childcare resources, youth and adult education, mental health support, and emergency aid, fostering a strong, resilient, and connected community.

STEPS

The Supporting Transitions and Educational Promise in Sound (STEPS) program helps young children with disabilities and developmental delays in San Juan County transition smoothly from early intervention services to preschool or other educational settings. STEPS provides family-centered support, resources, and coordination with schools and service providers to ensure children receive the help they need for a successful start in their education.

Breastfeeding support

WIC's Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program offers wonderful parent-to-parent support to WIC clients in over 100 Washington communities. It's normal to have lots of questions about breastfeeding and to need some help. Getting answers to your questions during pregnancy and in the early days after birth can help you get the best start with breastfeeding. WIC peer counselors have special training in breastfeeding support, are avalbe outside normal hours and on weekends, answer questions and offer support, can refer parents to breastfeeding experts for situations that call for additional help, and offer in home care and support to new parents in San Juan County.

We partner with Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) to help make high-quality early education accessible to families in need. WCCC provides state-funded childcare assistance for eligible families, reducing financial barriers so children can learn and grow in a nurturing environment. If you qualify, WCCC can cover a portion or all of your childcare costs, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive while parents and caregivers pursue work, education, or training.

Growing FAMILIES

Growing Families San Juan Islands is a community initiative that provides comprehensive support for expecting parents and families with young children in San Juan County. The program connects families to prenatal care, in-home breastfeeding support, parenting resources, early childhood education, and health services, ensuring that every child has a strong start in life. Through local partnerships and accessible programs, Growing Families fosters a nurturing and informed community where parents can find guidance, connection, and the resources they need to thrive.
